AMREEN & FAISAL WEDDING- PART 3 (THE VALIMA)

The Crowne Plaza Dubai - was the venue for the Valima, a close family affair and the last event of the wedding.

The couple wowed in their designer outfits and exuded glamour.

Tables were swathed in silver and white featuring snowy and blush florals that spilled out of ornate bird cages. Hurricane glasses housed flickering candles and a backdrop filled with candles and blush hydrangeas gave the evening a touch of simple and classic elegance.

Personalized touches were integrated into the wedding reception. Rather than having a traditional guest book each attendee was asked to put their thumb print on a wedding tree. Later that evening, the colorful tree filled with leaf looking thumb prints was framed and gifted to the couple.

It was the music that stole the hearts of the guests this evening. The entire family entered re enacting their own first dance and first song of 30 years ago and received a standing ovation from the guests. Amreen’s parents made a grand entry and waltzed on their song that her dad had wooed her mom with. It was a truly emotional moment for the family. The highlight of the wedding evening was a Salsa performance by the couple. Amreen and Faisal performed to Christina Perri’s “a thousand years” A well choreographed flawless performance which the couple had been secretly rehearsing for the past month.

A sentimental wedding video montage ended the perfect night that was an expression of affection and style.

The Wedding was planned by Rimjhim Bhagchandani of Rimjhim Events who does wow weddings across the globe.

WEDDING PLANNER DUBAI |WEDDING DUBAI  | WEDDINGS DUBAI |DESTINATION WEDDINGS | DESTINATION WEDDING THAILAND | SHRADHA AND KUNAL

WEDDING PLANNER DUBAI |WEDDING DUBAI  | WEDDINGS DUBAI |DESTINATION WEDDINGS

Shradha’s beach wedding looks were created by Manish M, Sabyasachi and her all-time favorite designer Shantanu & Nikhil. We both live in Dubai and are born and brought up here. We first met when we were in elementary school, and got to know each other in college in the US. I work for The Nielsen Company and Kunal at Merill Lynch. Our wedding took place at Sheraton, Hua Hin. To read more about our beach wedding click here

Manish Malhotra for Wedding ~ Sangeet For the three main functions, I wanted very distinct looks. I wanted the feel of the Sangeet to be very Bollywood, so I wore a custom designed fuschia lehenga by Manish Malhotra. The lehenga had gold/silver and emerald work. My favorite part of this lehenga was the low back velvet blouse fastened with a brooch. To compliment this outfit I picked a diamond and emerald set from BC Sen Jewellers, Kolkata.

Sabysachi for Wedding ~ Pheras For the pheras, I wanted a traditional look since I was entering on a Doli, but at the same time I wanted something unusual. So I wore a very interesting Sabyasachi lehenga. The skirt was yellow and was paired with a royal blue blouse. The dupatta was rust and the veil rose in color and I loved the combination of colors. I wanted to wear an uncut diamond set with this outfit, but I wanted something that was different to match the unique outfit. We combed through many jewelry stores in Kolkata and found the perfect set. It was a combination of uncut diamonds, filigeree gold balls, south sea pearls, and ruby lites. The ruby lites were a nice contrast against the blue blouse. My bangles and hair piece were designed by a very good friend Vasundhara, who owns a semi-precious jewellery store in Kolkata. I paired this outfit with gold strappy Jimmy Choos. Kunal wore a sherwani paired with a dhoti designed by Just Men in Mumbai.

Wedding ~ Reception Lehenga by all-time favorite designer Shantanu & Nikhil   The wedding reception had a very European feel with white décor, orchids and roses. I considered wearing a gown, but because I had mehendi on, I picked a very contemporary lehenga by Shantanu & Nikhil. The skirt of this lehenga had a fun feel and was very voluminous. It was a sheer material printed with blue, silver and light lilac patterns, but the white underskirt gave it a white/silvery look. The blouse was a metallic silver blouse, with a white net dupatta which had a combination of antique silver and bright silver motifs. This outfit needed a very modern set. My friend, Anand Datwani, owner of Kyra Jewelers in Dubai designed this. We first picked the shape and the kind of diamonds we wanted (round, pears, marquise). Then a shell was made and we actually got to place the diamonds in different places to get the right look. This is my favorite set as I was involved in its creation. I paired this outfit with two diamond bangles and silver Manolo Blahnik Peep Toe Pumps.

For the Welcome party and youngsters night, I wore an electric custom blue gown designed by Falguni & Shane Peacock. It had their trademark jewels and feather work at the waist. For my mehendi, I wore a light pink Sana Safinaz outfit with an off-white vine crown in my hair. For the Ghadi Pooja, I wore a self designed peach saree. For good luck, I wore my mother’s wedding set - a vintage gold necklace with jhumkas.

Makeup and Hair There are three decisions that we made during the wedding that I am so glad in restrospect I did. One was picking Mili & Sid for the photos and video. Two was getting married at the Sheraton in Hua Hin (not only is it a gorgeous property, their staff are excellent too) and three was going with Ojas Rajani for my makeup. My mother is an event designer and she asked her friends to suggest a makeup artist who would suit the look I wanted. I love a clean, nude face with focus on the eyes. We heard raving reviews about Ojas. I met Ojas once, and I immediately booked her. She was an absolutely sweetheart during the wedding- and made sure that she gave me very different looks for all the functions.

Wedding Shopping My style is simple but contemporary (and girlie). So for my trousseau shopping I wanted a mix of dresses, gowns, sarees.  I shopped at Ayesha Depala and Monisha Jaisingh for gowns/dresses and Manish Malhotra, Shantanu & Nikhil, Anamika Khana, Sana Safinaz for sarees and suits. I also picked up a few Herve Leger, Alice+Olivia, DvF and Rebecca Taylor pieces from the US.

Wedding Dubai |Weddings Dubai |Wedding Planner Dubai | Destination Wedding Dubai

Lavish settings, aerial acts, multi-cuisine platter, livewire music and high-energy performances by artists & dancers, Nisarg Ramani’s Engagement was more lavish than many Big Fat Destination Weddings.

Nisarg, 25, son of Dubai-based Jewellery tycoon Ramesh Ramani got engaged to Nupur Sakaria at the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa in Hua Hin, Thailand. The three day celebrations were between 20 and 22nd December, and Dubai-based Wedding Planner Rimjhim Bhagchandani, conceptualised the wow themes, to give the 300 guests the most magnificent experience.

Father Ramesh Ramani’s brief to the Wedding Planner was simple: “This may be the Engagement, but we want the best. Don’t calculate anything so you’re not limited by a budget”. So Rimjhim flew in the best talent from India, Dubai and London, and with help from Thai hands, orchestrated the affair to remember.

It has been a truly heavenly day on Maharani today.  With each post more captivating than the previous, it is hard to choose my favorite pictures.  I really love the shot of the wedding rings, but at the same time, the Thai dancers are a fantastic, fusion touch.  I do, however, love Shrada’s wedding reception lengha….the royal color and the low back just look divine.

From Mili, of Memories in Motion

This was a 4 day Sindhi Wedding held at the Sheraton, Hua Hin in Thailand, The couple is based out of Dubai so this was their destination wedding & for us, it became one of our favorite weddings to date. This stylish couple/wedding had every glamour we werelooking for. From their invites to their wish tree, everything was impeccable. We have filmed several big fat indian weddings in Udaipur, India, Africa and have seen one of the finest weddings in California/New York but this Indian wedding with thai  fusion was really special. The  Sheraton Hua Hin itself is beautiful, surrounded by lagoon water with several rooms having direct access to the lagoon pool. The food was the best part as the hotel does have an indian chef, which is one of the key reasons why Shradha & Kunal choose Sheraton over other resorts in Hua Hin.

Destination Indian weddings require so much planning and proper execution, especially in aplace like Hua Hin- there is always a problem of sourcing everything. A lot of the decor pieces/center pieces/accents were flown in from Dubai & that itself is quite a daunting task but everything from decor/flowers/lighting etc was arranged & co-ordinated by Mrs Rhimjhim Bhagchandani, She barely slept over those 4 days ,and we watched her take care of EVERYTHING. She would only have enough time to change her outfits and then head out to overlook the decor for the next event. The bride & groom themselves took upon serious duties as they managed transport for all guests arriving from Bangkok as well do room allocations, I have not seen a more dedicated couple.  We are just so excited to share this wedding with everyone & hope it gets the attention it deserves!

The destination wedding was coordinated by the brides mother Rimjhim  who does wow weddings and destination weddings accross the world.

The best part of it all is that a lavish wedding do is virtually immune to economic cycles, Bhagchandani believes.

Dubai: Why would anyone want to step out of the arc lights that come with being a celebrity events planner? Let’s just look at two of the perks that come with being one — a chance to micro-manage high-profile events and constant and personal interactions with celebrities.

But Rimjhim Bhagchandani preferred to walk away from it all. “When I started, we lived in simpler times,” she said. “At that stage, live shows in Dubai were truly appreciated [and] the number of artists, sponsors, venues and media avenues were limited.

“Today, Bollywood-related shows far exceed the popularity of classical music events. Also, while the fees for artists have shot up, sponsorship fees have not increased proportionately. Recovering the investment on a live show has thus become more challenging.”

It is an existentialist crisis that stalks many an entrepreneur. Once a business reaches a certain scale and finds it difficult to make the next transition, declining returns could then set in and even turn out to be fatal to the business’s longer-term prospects.

The solution, as far as Bhagchandani was concerned, was to tune into a new career trajectory — that of being a wedding planner. She disagrees —politely — with the suggestion that switching business profiles must have been difficult.

Organised flow

“Personally I don’t see working with weddings to be a transition since the same principle of creating unique events applies strongly,” said Bhagchandani, who holds the working title of director at Rimjhim Events. “Today’s weddings involve bringing together a broad range of ideas that require the assistance of a wedding planner to maintain an organised flow of events.

“The market for wedding planners here is very encouraging [and] the rate card depends on the scope of work provided by the client.”

Bhagchandani certainly has struck a chord there. Weddings are getting more complex and planning them requires as many management skills as a business school can teach you and then some they don’t. The role of wedding planners too has received a high gloss with both Hollywood and Bollywood churning out movies based on that theme.

In a case of life imitating art, planning glitzy weddings are packing in the kind of budgets that a small-scale movie producer would be proud of. “We handled engagements of Dh4 million to Dh6 million plus where we have hosted a minimum of 400 guests.

“Clients don’t mind spending money as long as they feel the expenses are justified. No one wants to compromise on a once in a lifetime wedding.

“For every event — depending on the destination and the client’s requirement — we bring together a specialised team. It’s extremely important to keep up to date with the latest innovations in the industry and I make it a point for us to attend workshops and seminars.

“It is not about the number of people on a payroll, but bringing together talented team members who share a vision.”

Apart from the local market, Rimjhim Events — which charges $20,000 on average to manage a destination wedding — is extending its reach into India and the Far East.

The best part of it all is that a lavish wedding do is virtually immune to economic cycles. “The way I see it, the market for destination weddings is growing every year,” said Bhagchandani.

“I don’t believe that the global slowdown has significantly impacted the industry. Budgets do vary from client to client, but seldom do they vary based on where we are in the economic cycle.

“But we have to work harder to create value in the minds of the clients during recessionary periods.”

Moreover, there is no such thing as an off-season. “Weddings happen throughout the year and across all our destinations. Rimjhim is a wedding planner who does weddings all accross the globe.  I do not recall ever having an off-peak season.”

Shradha Bhagchandani and Kunal Adnani’s elegant beach wedding was held at the Sheraton, Hua Hin, Thailand. Mili Ghosh who filmed and photographed all the functions over four days states: “We have filmed several big fat indian weddings in India, Africa and have seen one of the finest weddings in California/New York but this Indian wedding with Thai fusion was really special. Destination Indian weddings require so much planning and proper execution, especially in a place like Hua Hin- there is always a problem of sourcing everything. The whole operation was planned and executed by Shradha’s mother Rhimjhim Bhagchandani who is a Dubai-based Wedding Planner herself. Says Mili: “We were amazed to see her at work—her aesthetic style, boundless energy and attention to detail. And Kunal’s family took care of all the hospitality and food arrangements and they did a fabulous job. The bride and groom worked equally hard—they took upon serious duties like coordinating transport and room allocations. Even with all the preps and planning, they were dedicating serious time into filming their love story in Bangkok as well as getting photos taken early in the morning after staying up all night from their reception, to get good portraits in daylight, as that was the only time slot available between the hectic events.”
